Santana

2008. Charcoal and oil pastel on paper. 9" x 12".

The inspiration for this drawing came from the amazing Santana concert that I attended in 2008. Some of the best live music I have experienced yet, with the company of my Dad and Pam.

Falling Light

2009. Acrylic on canvas. 10" x 20".

This painting was done without brushes. I used three different sizes of paint knives instead. It had to be done in layers, as I applied the paint quite thick. The painting was done from a photo I took in Pine Cree park.

Motorcycle Jacket

2009. Mixed media (leather, graphite, paper, acrylic) on canvas. 16" x 20".

This piece was probably the most fun to do so far. First, I drew the guy's face, neck and shirt, this took about 2 days...not full days. Next, I used a full size leather jacket that I cut into pieces to use for the construction of this smaller jacket. I then painted the canvas creating a backdrop for the collage. I think the whole thing took about a week to finish.

Grandma's Still Life/Unstill Life

2008. Acrylic on canvas. 12" x 9".

This canvas was my grandmother's. She had done a simple sketch of the fruit bowl, apple, and jug seen in the painting. The light blue paint on the top right was also done by her. I decided to continue on with what she started and put my own style into her still life. It may not be my best, art but it holds sentiment for me and a connection to the past.

This is the first project I started for my portfolio for ACAD. It is also my favorite drawing that I have done.

The Trees

2009. Oil pastel on primed canvas. 11" x 14".

If you have ever driven down the back roads near Shaunavon, it is likely you recognize this scene. This is what I see every day on my way home. Some say Saskatchewan is simply an ugly and boring place. I think you just have to look a bit harder to find its beauty.

Feather Dress

2008. Synthetic feathers on chicken wire. 10" x 9" 14".

I sculpted three pieces of chicken wire into the form of a ball gown. Coloured feathers of various shapes and sizes were glued to the form of the dress creating the skirt and bodice. Also, two small pieces of velvet were attached to the straps of the dress.
